Section 508
Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended, mandates that when the federal government purchases most electronic information and technology, including software, it must ensure that the electronic information and technology provides access to and use of information or data to federal government employees with disabilities that is comparable to the access provided to federal government employees without disabilities. Additionally, under the act, the federal government is also obligated to provide access to information and data to members of the public with disabilities that is comparable to the access provided to the public without disabilities.
Section 508 Electronic Information and Technology Accessibility Standards Compliance Statement
BAMTECH respects how important the user experience is to the military and civilian population and ensures that all users have complete accessibility to any and all features in our web applications.
We understand that 508 compliance standards need to be considered when designing, coding, testing and creating documentation. To ensure success, our entire product team receives annual training in 508 compliance standards and testing. New employees, as part of the on-boarding process, are briefed on 508 compliance and provided documentation and resources as reference upon completion of training.
Programmers, System Architects, Quality Assurance Engineers, and UI developers build and test with accessibility in mind using the following tools and techniques: WAVE, FAE, JAWS, Color Analyzer, and keyboard commands for mouseless navigation. By employing these tools and techniques we follow W3C web content accessibility guidelines and compliancy requirements outlined by ADA and Section508 governance.
As a form of regression and self-assessment, sites are routinely tested for 508 compliance to ensure that new code did not impact existing code. Any findings are reported, researched, corrected, and retested to confirm that best practices were executed and standards were followed.
BAMTECH understands the importance of technology accessibility to our customers. We are committed to providing software and documentation for the best user experience as well as to comply with Section 508.
